What Makes WCN Different?

We support the local church so people experience the love of Jesus through practical help and lasting relationships.

We Partner with a local church

When disaster strikes, people often turn to a local church for help. That church is part of their community before the disaster—and remains after outside relief teams have gone home.

World Compassion Network comes alongside local churches with disaster supplies, volunteers, resources, and encouragement. Together, we help churches respond to the needs around them and care for people they will continue walking alongside.

The local church remains

Disaster recovery takes time. Clearing debris and repairing a home are important steps, but families may face challenges long after the immediate emergency has passed.

By working through local churches, we support people who are already rooted in the community. They know their neighbors, understand local needs, and can continue building relationships throughout recovery.

When someone comes to a church seeking help, we want that church to have more resources to respond with compassion. Our role is to strengthen its ability to serve.

Jesus is our reason—and our example

We do this because Scripture calls us to serve.

In Matthew 25:40, Jesus teaches that when we care for people in need, we are serving Him. In John 13:14–15, He washes His disciples’ feet and calls them to follow His example of humble service.

These passages shape both what we do and how we do it. We want our interactions to reflect Jesus through patience, kindness, humility, and respect.

Whether we are unloading disaster supplies, working beside a homeowner, or listening to someone’s story, our desire is for people to experience His love through our actions.

In Honduras, partnership reaches beyond a mission trip.

Our work in Honduras follows the same approach: supporting local churches and pastors who live and serve in their communities year-round.

Working alongside these partners, WCN has helped:

  • Build homes for families in need, providing safer places to live and a foundation for greater stability.

  • Start the Tortilla Ladies’ business, helping women create opportunities to earn income and support their families.

  • Build churches, providing places for congregations to worship, grow, and serve their neighbors.

  • Hold conferences for local pastors, offering encouragement, teaching, and opportunities to connect.

Our mission teams participate in this ongoing work. Each trip supports relationships and ministry that continue after volunteers return home.

People matter beyond the project.

A completed project matters. So does the way someone is treated along the way.

We take time to listen, learn, pray, and work alongside others. We want families facing poverty or disaster to know they are seen, valued, and loved—and to connect with a local church that can continue offering care and encouragement.
